OUR WORK

EDUCATION:

Education is a great engine of personal development and is the only way to break the cycle of poverty. But lack of tuition and school supplies are a major threat to many children in the community.

Many children in lower, upper primary and secondary level have not attained education because of loss of their parents or are in extreme poverty. This has forced many children out of school resulting into early marriage, abuse and child labor.

One of the most significant fields of HLOCM is on the education, through donations, we can provide tuition fees and school supplies allowing them to attend school regularly. Education not only equips them with knowledge and skills but also empowers them to become agents of change within the community. It opens doors to better employment opportunities and foster a sense of self-worth and independence.

2. FEEDING A HUNGRY CHILD

Feeding a hungry child is one of the most powerful ways to pay tribute to a life. Malnutrition starts early in infancy for children in Uganda. By extra potation at birth, about 10% of children are already stunted and about 15% are wasted.

The immediate causes of malnutrition for children in Uganda continues to be a high disease burden resulting into malaria, diarrhea, disease and auto respiratory infections as well as inadequate dietary intake resulting from sub optimal infant feeding practices.

HLOCM gives out food on a monthly basis to children and vulnerable families and this has seen many lives redeemed and transformed.

Monthly food donation has played a very important role in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.

3, MEDICAL CARE

Our purpose of medical care is to prevent premature death and disability, maintenance and enhancement of quality of life & proper growth in children.

Another critical aspect of donations is the provision of health care for these children. Lack of access to proper medical facilities and promotive care exposes children to various health risks. Through donation, HLCOM can ensure that they receive regular checkup, vaccinations and necessary treatments. Improved health not only enhances their overall wellbeing but also enables them to focus on their education and personal growth hence breading the vicious cycle of poverty and hence health.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Many of the children at HLCOM have lost one or both parents and live with relatives or foster parents. To assist these guardians in caring for the additional children, HLOCM seeks to bring about economic change by initiating income generating projects. These projects include provision of seeds, farm tools, farm animals, poultry and plantation farming. This does not only provide a most needed hand but it also makes the adopted child seen as a blessing within the family.

Our primary goals are to improve the financial conditions of orphans and vulnerable children and their families be able to offer school fees, scholastic materials and other basic needs. We are working for families and HLOCM to become self-sustainable by creating this income generating projects and always looking for God to provide a way.
